2024  residential — concept design
Situation
Involved from the very beginning, the interior of this spacious villa could be designed in close collaboration with the architect and in very close relationship with the exceptional green plot with grown trees. Its architecture is inspired by mid-century modernism and the inside needed to follow some of the same design principles, like the open plan layout and advanced interactions between spaces.

Egide Meertens Plus architecten ensured a design reflecting the principles of the iconic modernistic architecture in the region. Formwork concrete accents are combined with a sand-colored bric to blend with its green environment.
Inside out
This house was designed "inside out". Key principle throughout the entire design phase was the idea that each room should have its own atmosphere and character, yet maintaining a harmonious and quiet style connecting the different spaces. The layout is inspired by the principle of a little village situated among a central square. Here, the kitchen is strategically uplifted and located in the heart of the house. The open plan allows interactions with every corner of the ground floor, while the large vides even connect the living spaces with the master suite and home office on the first floor.
Open plan
The bright ground floor locates the main living rooms, including a breakfast area with a coffee corner, dining area with bar cabinet and a cosy sunken seating area. A modular sofa offers different views over both the television and the garden, while the vide provides interaction with the library and reading corner upstairs. Strategically chosen windows provide a poetic incidence of light against the wall. Final element is the staircase, contained in a central volume easily accesible from the entrance hall.
Ton-sur-ton mood
The material palette used for the interior was deliberatedly composed to breath a timeless ton-sur-ton vibe. Therefore, it the number of materials was kept to a minimum. Natural larch veneer and parquet combined with sophisticated painting techniques, silver travertin stone with a distinctive line pattern and rich fabrics. The owners collect art and it was their desire to have several opportunities to showcase different pieces of their collection. Therefore, the designers incorporated walls and niches without compromising the open feel in this lofty villa.

Bringing in green
Located on a large plot in a stunning green environment, each room in the house has its own connection to the garden. The master suite is located in the back of the first floor and overlooks the magnificent mature trees in the backgarden. Start the day with some fresh air at the balcony, take a shower while catching the first rays of sun through the skylight and end in bed after a relaxing bath in close contact to the trees' canopy.
Working from home
Next to a library and master suite, the first floor also houses a spacious home office, equipped with a double desk, a meeting table and seating corner for informal discussions. Although an open plan might seem to put privacy at risk, clients do not need to pass by any private space to enter. Mission accomplished.
